Being poor is expensive both for the poor & for the country; making the situation worse through benefit cuts will be a false economy, that costs more in the long run, but also fails to allow those stricken by impoverishment to contribute to our society fully.
We need a change in the political logic that seems unlikely from this government (unfortunately) who seem rather more keen on doubling down on previous governments' callous approach to the poor.
