I learned you get nowhere advocating for yourself, but can have some luck advocating for someone else. All the women in our group got a 20% pay rise after I dropped a dime on the HR guy doubling down on a salary for a white male that was more than the Hispanic woman on a higher pay grade he'd report to. They did a salary audit taking gender into account, gave the women a raise, and a year later fired the HR guy.
