I worked for the US Small Business Administration in the late '80's and my supervisor wouldn't allow us to accept so much as a cup of coffee from the bankers whose applications we had to review. Some fellow Loan Officers secretly accepted various enducements, however, up to and including taking lucrative jobs after leaving the agency. You can expect a certain amount of this at lower levels of the government but SCOTUS? It's gross.
