This is why I often think of *all of these problems* as things that are the same across all settler colonial as well as empire-building societies (sometimes the same, sometimes not). The discomfort comes from a place of not knowing what to do now that that supremacy is threatened. Maybe *you personally* didn't benefit from slavery or empire-building, but you did exist in a system that lifted / still lifts that. If we can move past what *you personally* did or didn't do, you can care for others
